There is nothing to collect.

Most privacy policies explain what a company does with your data. This one mostly explains why there isn't any. MyAttic has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Everything you write stays under your control.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you put into MyAttic — what you write, and anything the app makes from it — is kept in a private database on your iPhone.

If you are signed in to iCloud, the app automatically backs up that database to your personal iCloud Drive (your own private iCloud container, not our servers). This is what powers the "Back Up Now" and "Restore from iCloud Backup" options in Settings. That file lives in your iCloud account, is protected by Apple's encryption, and is only accessible to you — we have no access to it whatsoever. Your data is also included in your standard iOS device backup (iCloud or Finder), exactly like any other app's data.

Where the thinking happens

Everything MyAttic does with your writing, it does on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device intelligence. Nothing is sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other AI provider — and nothing is sent to us either, because there is nothing on the other end of a connection to send it to. Once the app is set up it works in airplane mode. That is the simplest test of this claim, and you can run it yourself in about ten seconds.

When you speak instead of type

You can hold the microphone and talk instead of typing. Your speech becomes text on your iPhone, as you say it — the audio is never written to a file, never uploaded, and not kept once the words are on the page. No recording of your voice exists anywhere afterwards, including on the device itself.

One honest caveat: the first time you use it, iOS may need to download the speech model for your language. That download is between your phone and Apple, contains none of your content, and happens once. After that, dictation works with the network off like everything else.

What we collect about you

Nothing. No name, no email address, no device identifier, no usage events, no diagnostics containing your content. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. If you enter a first name when you set the app up, it is stored on the device and used only to greet you.

Apple's own data

If you install MyAttic from the App Store, Apple handles the download and any purchase, and may share aggregate, anonymised App Store analytics with us — for example, how many people downloaded the app — unless you have turned that off in your device settings. That collection is Apple's, governed by Apple's privacy policy, and it never includes anything you wrote.

Third parties

There are none. No advertising SDKs, no trackers, no attribution frameworks, no third-party crash reporter with access to your content.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you the right to access, correct, export, and erase the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none. Practically: deleting MyAttic from your iPhone deletes the local database; you can delete your iCloud backup copy from iCloud Drive at any time; removing your device backup removes that copy too.

Children

MyAttic is not directed at children under 13, and collects no data from anyone of any age.

If this ever changes

The date at the top of this page changes whenever this policy does. Introducing any data collection would be a change to the product, not merely to this document — it would be announced inside the app, before it took effect, and it would need your consent.
